    99 Mary Street // Venue Launch 11/07/2013

For the launch of 99 Mary Street, Dedass had 7 brilliant and quirky prints on sale. The decision was made by them to frame each print individually in a different moulding, keeping the overall look of them quite rustic - a bit more like a interesting bunch of frames picked up at a vintage shop. This worked perfectly with the space itself which had bare brick walls; here they are in situ..

One frame in particular which is of interest to us, is the bottom left hand side. This frame has been made from off cuts recovered from an old Hogarth frame that was brought to us recently by a customer. The Hogarth frame had been made in Hong Kong in the late 70’s and fitted well, adding a traditional and distressed look to the collection.

  2. Framing Case Studies // Doc Fest

    Showroom Cinema’s// Doc Fest’s 202020 project 04/06/2013

After being approached by Doc Fest to design and make the frames for their 202020 exhibition situated at Showroom Cinema, we wanted to present them at a coherent collection of work. After viewing the prints we also decided to move away from a classic black frame and go for something a little softer, which in this case was a light charcoal gray - still wanting to keep a bit of a graphic edge in the design we used a black core mount to act as a second border to the prints.

We also installed the show at the Showroom cinema- here it is in situ.

Not only did we make and hang the frames, but we also screenprinted the 'Tina goes Shopping ' piece on the far right hand side, which is by artist Nick Phillips.  These frames are on display permanently now, so next time you're there check them out - there are some great adaptations of documentary films.

At APG we are often asked to frame work for various artist, galleries and venues around Sheffield and beyond, this blog entry is just simple photo documentation of some of the recent events that we are very proud to be a part of. Presentation Portfolio

This is the presentation portfolio we've made for the artists' proof collections and for those who want to buy a complete set of the new prints. The price of the full set with the portfolio is £265.00 (against the full price, bought individually, of £300.00). On the Preview night, Thursday 25th April from 6.00pm we will make them available for £250.00.

The portfolios measure 37x52cm, with flaps to hold the 35x50cm prints. More about this show...

Go to APG Online Gallery for more information...

Please Note: The above image shows only 5 of the prints. The 6th print in the series, Bug, by Laurence Harborne was still being printed when the photograph was taken. Details here...

    The show in situ...

For this show, the prints have been made up in a variety of different framing formats by  APG framer Libby Pell. This gallery of images will give an idea of how the variations impact on the look of each piece.

The show also contains examples of previous works that have been created as screen prints at APG in previous collaborations with these artists.

  5. Looking forward to Phlegm's new print.

Great anticipation here for the release tomorrow of Phlegm's new prints, Documenting Everything. We are hoping to see a few brought in for framing, so we've worked out a good price for a great design for the piece - see details below. We saw a fair few of the Civilisation prints a year or so ago, which were framed with great results.

The print is due to be released tomorrow at 10.30 am on phlegm's blogpost, in an edition of 100 - you can see details: click here...

    Discounted frame offer:

The style of this 50x37 cm print on 280gsm ivory Fabriano paper really lends itself to one of our float frames which highlight the torn and deckled edges. Hand finished deep rebate ashwood, with black polish and 19mm white inserts, with the print float-mounted with acid-free hinge tapes onto 5mm conservation foamboard. Here's an example of a similar frame we made for a Paul Klee print...

    £12.50 OFF framing:

For the early birds bringing in one of Phlegm's new prints to frame in the style we have suggested there will be a discounted price of £80.00: order by 15th April and receive £12.50 off the normal price of £92.50.

Of course, we'd also be happy to show other framing styles for the piece.

For example, framed in M1 flat grainy black 40mm(w)x15mm(d), with acid free window mount and backer (70mm border), the price will be £48.50 and for a polished matt black finish (same profile size) the price will be £58.50.
